Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Will the races be sanctioned by USAT? Yes, all three races (intermediate triathlon, short triathlon, and duathlon) will all be sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Even the kid's triathlon will be a USAT sanctioned event!

  • Where will race proceeds go? After budgeted items are taken care of, proceeds will go directly to the Yates County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

  • What are the dates for entry discounts?
    2010 Registration fees will increase by $5.00 on March 14th, and then again by $10 on May 23rd.

  • Who do I contact about bike shipping?
    Bike shipping has not been determined.

  • What is the latest date that I can withdraw and still get a partial refund? There are no transfers of registrations to other athletes are allowed. There will be no race refunds!! Race transfers are allowed only if requested at least two weeks before the date of event for a $35 fee. No transfers can me made to or from the Finger Lakes Triathlon. Transfers can only be made to a race of equal or lesser value. Requests for transfer to another Score This!!! Multisport Series event can me made in writing either by email or USPS.  The transfer will be completed once Score This!!! has received the processing fee via our online services. 
  • What are the withdrawal procedures? You must submit in writing a letter to the Race Director. Please include your name, address, and phone number.
  • I didn't turn in my timing chip after the race. Where do I return it so I won't be charged the "lost chip" fee? Send it to:

  • Is the swim a mass start? No. It is a wave start. Waves will be determined by the number of athletes in each age division.
  • IWhat time can I swim in that really cold water on Saturday?  The college has lifeguards on duty from 1-6pm.
  • Are we starting in the water or is it a beach start? Knee deep in water start
  • Are wetsuits allowed? Yes. In fact, wetsuits are strongly advised for this time of year. The water is typically in the lower 60's.  In 2009, race day water temp was 61.3 degrees F.  Check out the graph of the last few years:  CLICK THIS!!!

  • How is the transition area organized? The transition area is organized my number.  You will be place in a row with about 55 others athletes.  We group you by race and age group.  This keeps everyone who you are racing next to you all all times and no one gets an unfair advantage based on TA position.  To see the TA site plan go here:  TA Site Plan

  • When can I rack my bike? This will take place race morning only starting at 5:15am.

  • What does a bag free clutter free transition area mean? This means you may bring your gear into the TA with a bag but then must remove your bag. After you have the gear you need in transition please remove your bags, buckets, wagons, carts and whatever you do not need to race with.  This ensures we have enough space for others around you.  Please make arrangements to give these things to a love one or place them into your vehicle.

  • What do you mean transition closes at 7:15am, but my race doesn't start until later. This means at 7:15am all athlete need to have everything they need to race for the start of the swim. (goggles, swim cap, wetsuit, etc.) You will not be able to enter or re-enter the transition until you are racing.  The transition will be staged and ready to go.

  • Who do I contact regarding race photos? Race photos will be taken by a professional photographer to be announced in the near future.

  • What is the race course? Swim/Bike/Run/Transition maps and directions are available in the course section of the web site.

  • Where will the aid stations be and what will be available? Aid stations are located approximately 1 to 1.5 miles apart on the run and should be several positioned in and around the transition area. Nutrition and beverages available can vary between years and races, depending upon who the sponsors are. Aid stations will consist of water, ice, and HEED.

  • What are the cutoff times?
    There are no cutoff times expected at this year's race.

  • I have moved, how do I change my address? Please email Keuka Lake Triathlon Race Director at: info (at) score-this (dot) com with the new address or correction.

  • Are disk wheels allowed? Yes

  • What is the timing system used for the event? Five split ChampionChip Timing from Score This!!! located in Orchard Park, NY

  • If I have my own chip can I use it? Of course.  Check in with Score This!!! at registration.

  • Will there be a relays? Yes, you can do either the short triathlon, intermediate triathlon, or duathlon with 2 or 3 people.

  • Will there be a Clydesdale or Athena Division in 2010? Yes.

  • Will there be a Kid's Triathlon? Yes unless the water is too cold then we will hold a duathlon (run bike run)

  • What if I missed the extra meal option for my family during registration?

    For anyone who misses the extra meal option during online registration there are two different ways to get tickets.

    1) They are $10 per person and we will be selling extras at the door of the dinner facility.

    2) If you wanted them in advance you would have to fill out a paper application and send a check to reserve them. Please also make a note on the application that you already registered for the event and just want extra meal tickets.

  • When do we need to rack our bikes in the transition area?  Bike racking starts race morning when the transition area opens at 5:30am.  All bikes need to be rack and the transition area needs to be cleared before the race starts so please make arrangements to get to the race site early
