From the Council for Responsible Sport Jonathon Eng ((06/10/08) )

As you are well aware the 2008 racing season is here and it is in full swing. I'd like to recognize the first three completed races in the Council for Responsible Sport, pilot Seedling Race Program: CB&I Triathlon in Woodlands TX, Reno Half Marathon in Reno NV and Keuka Lake Triathlon in upstate NY. All three have made significant green efforts in their events leaving more of an impact on their participants than the venues at which they are held. Congratulations.

We would like to thank all of the athletes who help us in this endeavor. We collected 55 pairs of sneakers and 5 cell phones to recycle.  We also reduced our trash by 66% from last year. We have calculated that the land filled portion of the trash will be 100lbs.
Thank you to everyone who helped us recycle.

The clinic was a huge success with 65 athletes.

If you forgot to turn it your room keys please mail them to:

2008 Regional Championship races (intermediate distance only) will qualify the top 33% or top 5 finishers (whichever is greater) in each age group for the Age Group National Championship.  Please be aware that 2008 Regional Championship races will NOT be used to qualify athletes for the 2008 World Championships.  Please visit www.usatriathlon.org for complete Regional Championship and Age Group National Championship information.

Attention Qualifiers as per USAT's website

Once qualification is met, athletes do not need to do anything special except indicate where they met qualification on the Age Group National Championship race application. There will be no other steps required. You will not receive a notification from USAT on your qualification as each athlete is responsible for submitting their own race application with their qualification race listed.

USA Triathlon will do an audit of those who have met qualification shortly after the receipt of the race application. If an athlete does not get a written request for more information within two weeks of submission of the race application, the athlete can rest assured that the entry has been accepted. From there, the athlete's name will appear on the participant list.

For more information, please contact the National Events Department.
